Blueberry is still very much alive. She's 13 now but hides her age well, other than not being into hiking anymore (she prefers the park, even in winter).
Pistachio is doing well. He is a bit crankier this year so I don't have any good pictures of him. He dug a back entrance to his burrow which I filled in twice and he removed the dirt three times. I guess you could say we are having a difference of opinion on how many openings he should be allowed. Who would have thunk an adult would get in an argument with a desert tortoise??? Right now I am allowing the second entrance until the monsoon rains come, then I will have to cover it back up for his own good so he doesn't drown. Tough love.
There is a fire raging to the east of us - sometimes when the wind shifts we can smell it and see the smoke. Not a threat to our area or the immediate surrounding areas - but it is devastating a good chunk of our Superstition wilderness area. Hopefully the wildlife in the area are making it to safer ground. I especially worry about the wild desert tortoises.
I hope all of you are doing well and are having a great summer! We have already had 3 days of heat warnings but right now it's only in the low 100s so we are grateful those really hot days are over, at least for now.
